Project Outputs

Output 1: Design of an assessment methodology for the MariLANG assessment standards to match IMO Model Course 3.17 and in-line with CEFR

Output 2: Following the design of the assessment methodology, the development of the test specifications with test items, assessment criteria and scoring methods with a plan for pre-testing and analysis will commence:

Activity 1 - Development of the test specifications for test writers for the assessment standards
Activity 2 - Designing Assessment criteria and scoring method
Activity 3 – Pre-testing and analysis

Output 3: Databank of test items (question bank) and carry out test item (quality) moderation for the new assessment standards.

Output 4: Design of new Maritime English training programme for new set of assessment standards in-line with the newly revised Model Course 3.17 where a detailed taxonomy for assessing the various language levels according to CEFR levels will be defined and fine-grained assessment goals will be established.

Output 5: Development of new Maritime English training programme for proposed set of assessment standards in-line with the revised Model Course 3.17 where the taxonomy of design of the Maritime English training programme will be used to develop a comprehensive training programme for Maritime English at the different individual language and work team levels.

Output 6: Development of an online platform for MariLANG Maritime English training and assessment programmes in-line with the revised Model Course 3.17 for all exercises and activities for the MariLANG programmes.

Output 7: Development of rater (examiner) training programme and training manual

Activity 1 -The rater training programme will be developed and implemented
Activity 2 - The establishment of a system of monitoring the marking/grading of raters
Activity 3 - A training manual for rater training programme will be developed

Output 8: Development of a grading framework and marking system

Output 9: Quality Manual (Training and Assessment) comprising of a set of processes and procedures to make sure the MariLANG programmes and the assessments are reliable (consistency of test results), valid (related to the training programme) and current (compliant with latest requirements).
